Also known as third-party motor vehicle insurance, is a regional insurance card scheme recognized by participating states as proof of insurance coverage in accordance with the national laws or regulations governing liability for motor vehicle accidents.

The Yellowcard Scheme Card is standard and uniform in appearance throughout the region, making it easily recognizable as a certificate of insurance at border crossing points.

Maksure COMESA Yellowcard is tailored to cover the risk of third party liability that using a foreign registered vehicle pose when operated in COMESA countries. The compulsory cover is offered at very low premium rates to encourage trade and travel among COMESA country members. Our COMESA Yellowcard is recognized in the following countries: Burundi, Djibouti, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Eritrea, Ethopia, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Coverage

Third-Party Property Damage & Emergency Medical Cover

  • Third-Party Property Damage: Covers liability for property damage in participating states where it’s not mandatory, up to specified limits.

  • Emergency Medical Expenses: Covers reasonable medical costs for injuries sustained by the insured, driver, or occupants due to an accident while traveling in Yellow Card Scheme territories.

Non-COMESA motorist – South Africa & Mozambique

South African and Mozambique registered vehicles can get Yellowcard cover through the B2B arrangement in their own country through our Maksure offices.
