Agriculture

Agriculture insurance provides farmers with financial protection against losses from weather, pests, and other risks, ensuring income stability and encouraging investment in improved practices.

Expert Risk Strategy

Farmers face many challenges to produce their crops sustainably and profitably due to climate change and increased variability. To increase risk bearing capacity, we have designed bespoke and comprehensive insurance products that covers small-scale, medium-scale and large-scale farmers.

Our product offerings include:

Policies can often be tailored to specific crops, farming practices, and regional risks. This product is suitable for large-scale farmers.

Livestock, Bloodstock and Wildlife

Livestock, Bloodstock and Wildlife

Livestock farming is the biggest agricultural sector in South Africa and Africa. However, the industry suffers many threats – from diseases to weather and theft. Maksure offers a range of cover solutions from fire and lighting for cattle, sheep, wildlife and bloodstock as well as weather and water-related perils, attacks from wild animals and more. Our Livestock, Bloodstock and WIldlife solutions can be deployed on a parametric basis as well.
Parametric Insurance

Parametric Insurance

Parametric index insurance offers a valuable tool for managing agricultural risks, especially in the context of increasing climate variability. By leveraging objective indices, it simplifies the claims process and provides timely payouts. Payouts based on the occurrence of predefined parameters or indices—such as area yield, rainfall levels, temperature thresholds, or wind speeds—rather than the actual losses experienced by the policyholder.
